Wire thieves busted

Two men were ar­rested for al­legedly steal­ing wire ca­bles from a wa­ter pump fac­tory in Magwe Re­gion’s Chauk town­ship on Septem­ber 11.

Act­ing on a tip, a worker caught Yankin town­ship’s Ko Mya Khine, 33, in the fac­tory with a saw ca­pa­ble of cut­ting wire. His ac­com­plice fled the scene. Of­fi­cials in­spected the area and found that about 15 feet (4.6 me­tres) of wire had been taken. The work­ers de­ter­mined that the sec­ond al­leged thief was 22-year-old Ko Soe Min Hlaing, also from Yankin, and called the po­lice, who hauled him in.

The ac­cused face up to seven years in prison. oc­cu­pied by U Tin Myine and his wife Daw Own Yee, of Mar­gayi For­est Num­ber 6, 3 miles from Nhat Soe Kwin, Taw Khaung Su vil­lage.

The tree fell and Daw Own Yee fled but U Tin Myine was tram­pled. His body was found cov­ered in bruises.
