Family found unconscious in home
Tarmwe police found four family members unconscious in their fifth-floor apartment in Tarmwe Gyi ward on September 14. Police were called by another family member, Ko Aung Thiha, 26, who had been unable to reach any of the apartment’s occupants by phone.
Police gained entry to the apartment by breaking the lock on the irongrille door. Once inside they discovered the unconscious bodies of Ko Phyo Dayawar Kaw, 31, U Myint Aung, 57, Daw Phyu Phyu Win, 66, and Daw Tin Tin Myint, 61. The bodies were found in three separate rooms.
All four were rushed Shin Par Ku Hospital, where one of the family members, Ko Phyo Daywar Kyaw, died while receiving treatment. The surviving family members have been transferred to Yangon General Hospital.
Police have not yet offered an explanation for this strange occurrence but noted in their investigation that they found all windows in the apartment closed, the air conditioner on and numerous cigarette butts, perhaps suggesting a lack of ventilation. Police are continuing to investigate. – Toe Wai Aung, translation by Thiri Min Htun
