Drug mules arrested
Police arrested three men carrying almost K40 million worth of amphetamines on the road from Taunggyi to Meikhtila on September 14.
The trio was stopped by police near Kwe Tat Sone village. During a search of the suspects’ Toyota Corolla, officers found nearly 8000 pills hidden in packets throughout the car.
During questioning, the men revealed that they were on their way to deliver the drugs to a man named Sithu, living in Mingalardon township, Yangon. They had purchased the drugs from another man, Akyi Lay, in southern Shan State.
The suspects – Ko Kyaw Khaing, Ko Htain Lin Naung and Ko Zaw Min Oo – face numerous charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Law. If found guilty of all offences, they could face a maximum combined sentenced of 25 years imprisonment. – Than Naing Soe
