Drug mules ar­rested

Po­lice ar­rested three men car­ry­ing al­most K40 mil­lion worth of am­phet­a­mines on the road from Taung­gyi to Meikhtila on Septem­ber 14.

The trio was stopped by po­lice near Kwe Tat Sone vil­lage. Dur­ing a search of the sus­pects’ Toy­ota Corolla, of­fi­cers found nearly 8000 pills hid­den in pack­ets through­out the car.

Dur­ing ques­tion­ing, the men re­vealed that they were on their way to de­liver the drugs to a man named Sithu, liv­ing in Min­galar­don town­ship, Yan­gon. They had pur­chased the drugs from an­other man, Akyi Lay, in south­ern Shan State.

The sus­pects – Ko Kyaw Khaing, Ko Htain Lin Naung and Ko Zaw Min Oo – face nu­mer­ous charges un­der the Nar­cotic Drugs and Psy­chotropic Sub­stance Law. If found guilty of all of­fences, they could face a max­i­mum com­bined sen­tenced of 25 years im­pris­on­ment. – Than Naing Soe
