The Myanmar Times - - News -

A man who beat his aunt to death was killed while trying to escape the crime scene, officers at the Kyauktada Myoma Police Station said.

The suspect, Ko Myat Ko Ko Hlaing from Thanlyin township, brought biryani to his aunt’s house in Kyauktada township in the morning on September 18. He visited with his cousin Daw Hnin Pa Pa Lwin, and they had what she reported as a normal conversation.

But while Daw Hnin Pa Pa Lwin went to the bathroom, she overheard an argument between her mother, Daw Kyin Hmwe, and her cousin. When she came back into the room she saw Ko Myat Ko Ko Hlaing punching her mother.

When Daw Hnin Pa Pa Lwin attempted to defend her mother, the suspect picked up an iron stick and started beating them. Ko Myat Ko Ko Hlaing then leapt from the back of the house to escape and fell to his death.

Daw Hnin Pa Pa Lwin sustained injuries on her head, but her mother had deep cuts 5 and 3 inches long, as well as a stab wound. Daw Kyin Hmwe, 65, died at Yangon General Hospital. – Toe Wai Aung, translation by Win
