Iran awards peace prize to two Myanmar religious leaders
Iran’s Ministry of Culture has recognised two Myanmar nationals at a ceremony in Mandalay. The event, attended by several National League for Democracy members, feted Khalifa U Thein Win Aung, a leader from the Islamic Sufi community in Mandalay, and Ashin Kumara, an assistant rector from Thitagu World Buddhist University, for their actions promoting peace. Speaking at the ceremony, both community leaders advocated religious tolerance and non-discrimination. Mandalay Regional Minister U Sai Kyaw Zaw and Mandalay NLD Chair U Tin Htut Oo both expressed their pride in the individuals receiving recognition.
