17 townships still lacking development teams
IN order for parliament to provide development funding to individual townships, those townships must form development implementation teams, but 17 have not yet done so, Speaker Mahn Win Khaing said on October 17.
The names of the tardy townships were not revealed. The Pyidaungsu Hluttaw has granted 278 townships permission to begin their proposed projects using development fund money. They have asked for new development proposals from 47 townships, which also went unnamed.
He warned all remaining townships to submit their proposals soon and urged those whose projects have been approved to work with state and regional MPs, local authorities, and civil society groups on the projects’ implementation.
