17 town­ships still lack­ing devel­op­ment teams

IN order for par­lia­ment to pro­vide devel­op­ment fund­ing to in­di­vid­ual town­ships, those town­ships must form devel­op­ment im­ple­men­ta­tion teams, but 17 have not yet done so, Speaker Mahn Win Khaing said on Oc­to­ber 17.

The names of the tardy town­ships were not re­vealed. The Pyi­daungsu Hlut­taw has granted 278 town­ships per­mis­sion to be­gin their pro­posed projects us­ing devel­op­ment fund money. They have asked for new devel­op­ment pro­pos­als from 47 town­ships, which also went un­named.

He warned all re­main­ing town­ships to sub­mit their pro­pos­als soon and urged those whose projects have been ap­proved to work with state and re­gional MPs, lo­cal au­thor­i­ties, and civil so­ci­ety groups on the projects’ im­ple­men­ta­tion.
