Phone snatcher ap­pre­hended

A would-be phone thief has been ap­pre­hended by passersby af­ter he snatched a woman’s mo­bile phone from her while she was talk­ing on it.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred in front of War­dan Street in Lan­madaw town­ship at around 11:30am on Oc­to­ber 17. The thief ap­proached the vic­tim from be­hind, grabbed her phone, and ran away.

The vic­tim shouted for as­sis­tance from peo­ple nearby who were able to ar­rest the thief.

Ko Pyi Hein Htet, 26, from Hlaing Thar­yar town­ship has been charged by po­lice un­der sec­tion 382 of the pe­nal code. If found guilty, he could face up to 10 years in jail. –
