LESS than a month after his emphatic victory over Kyal Sin Phyu in ONE Championship’s State of Warriors event, Saw Ba Oo will climb back into the ring against a top Myanmar fighter.

This time, it’s lethwei rules only, as the Kayin state champion faces off against Mandalay Region’s 2012 region and state-level gold medallist Poe K tomorrow at Mandalay’s Aung Myay Mandalar Stadium.

The two headline the Mandalay Rumbling Challenge Fight, organised by T&T Group and sponsored by Victory Myanmar Group Co, Ltd.

“This is the first fight between Poe K and Saw Ba Oo,” said organising official U Datha.

Saw Ba Oo, 27, trains in Hpa-an with Taung Ka Lay gym, where he’s honed his mixed martial arts skills for recent cage fights. But tomorrow’s fight represents a return to the usual for the Kayin fighter, who has made a name for himself as a hard-kicking lethwei fighter with a high threshold for pain.

His last performance on October 7 featured both strengths, as he outlasted Kyal Sin Phyu in a two-round battle that saw him land multiple body kicks from the upright position.

Other match-ups will feature Kayin State’s current gold medallist Sein Myo Aung against Pyin Oo Lwin’s best fighter, Bo Soe Aung; Soe Maung Oo from Yadanabon gym against Myo Man Thit from 1886 Mandalay; and Thar Kyaw Phyauk, a gold medallist from Mon State, against junior champion Tet Lu from Kyar Ye gym
