Fire caused by shrine damages five shops
A fire in Hlaing Tharyar township caused by a shrine light resulted in more than K2.5 million in damage on November 1, police said.
At about 7:15pm the Buddha shrine sitting high up in a shop on Malarmyaing 3rd Street in the 16th ward toppled to the ground, setting the store on fire. The fire was put out by 70 firefighters and 11 fire engines at about 7:35pm, but not before five other shops caught fire, causing K2,560,000 (US$2000) in damage.
