Man killed by brother-in-law in paddy field fight

A 42-year-old Taikkyi town­ship man was killed by his brother-in-law on Novem­ber 11 af­ter a scuf­fle in a paddy field, police said.

Ko Thant Zin was work­ing in the field with his fam­ily when, at about noon, he got into an ar­gu­ment with Ko Tin Shwe aka Kyauk Phar, his brother-in-law. Ko Thant Zin pointed a sharp ob­ject at Ko Tin Shwe who re­sponded with his sickle, slic­ing Ko Thant Zin’s neck. Ko Thant Zin died on the spot. Ko Tin Shwe is on the run. Police have charged him un­der sec­tion 302 of the pe­nal code, for mur­der. If caught and con­victed, he could face life in prison.
