A two-year-old girl was beaten to death with a lead pipe by her mother’s boss in Thanlyin township on November 9, according to police.

Ma Win Win Aye, of Kyauktan township’s Par Da Gyi village, and her daughter Ma Sandar Oo and husband Ko Chit Min Oo were staying at the home of employer Daw Htet Htet Cho.

At about 10am, while Ma Win Win Aye was back in Kyauktan, Daw Htet Htet Cho told Ma Sandar Oo to do 20 sit-ups. The toddler was incapable so Daw Htet Htet Cho allegedly struck her in the head with a lead pipe, killing her.

When Ma Win Win Aye returned, she reported the case. The husbands have been arrested and Daw Htet Htet Cho is on the run. Police have opened a case under sections 302 and 201 of the penal code, for murder and destroying of evidence. If caught and convicted, Daw Htet Htet Cho could face life in prison.
