Motorcyclists nab handbag and flee
A handbag containing over US$10,000 worth of goods was snatched from a woman on a motorbike along the Yangon-Mandalay road in Chan Mya Tharsi township on November 13.
At around 10pm woman and her daughter were sitting on the back of a motorcycle, driven by her husband, as they passed a construction site on the way to the Kywe Sae Kan highway bus compound. They had intended to catch a bus to Yangon.
Two men on a motorcycle grabbed the handbag, which had been placed between the woman and her daughter.
The handbag reportedly contained a platinum necklace, a diamond locket, a diamond ring, a diamond earring, a pearl and diamond ring, a pearl locket, a diamond bracelet, a pearl and diamond locket, a pearl and diamond earring, two gold bracelets, a pearl earring, a diamond locket, a Samsung mobile phone, a Huawei mobile phone, a KBZ bank book, an NRC card, a driving licence and K35,000.
The total estimated worth of the goods taken was K10,935,000.
The police have opened a case to investigate.
