Mo­tor­cy­clists nab hand­bag and flee

A hand­bag con­tain­ing over US$10,000 worth of goods was snatched from a woman on a mo­tor­bike along the Yan­gon-Man­dalay road in Chan Mya Tharsi town­ship on Novem­ber 13.

At around 10pm woman and her daugh­ter were sit­ting on the back of a mo­tor­cy­cle, driven by her hus­band, as they passed a con­struc­tion site on the way to the Kywe Sae Kan high­way bus com­pound. They had in­tended to catch a bus to Yan­gon.

Two men on a mo­tor­cy­cle grabbed the hand­bag, which had been placed be­tween the woman and her daugh­ter.

The hand­bag re­port­edly con­tained a plat­inum necklace, a di­a­mond locket, a di­a­mond ring, a di­a­mond ear­ring, a pearl and di­a­mond ring, a pearl locket, a di­a­mond bracelet, a pearl and di­a­mond locket, a pearl and di­a­mond ear­ring, two gold bracelets, a pearl ear­ring, a di­a­mond locket, a Sam­sung mo­bile phone, a Huawei mo­bile phone, a KBZ bank book, an NRC card, a driv­ing li­cence and K35,000.

The to­tal es­ti­mated worth of the goods taken was K10,935,000.

The po­lice have opened a case to in­ves­ti­gate.
