Colombia arrests 22 members of top drug gang
Colombian police have arrested 22 suspected members of the country’s top drug gang, accused of trafficking cocaine to the United States and Europe. The suspects of the Clan del Golfo gang include two of its senior leaders accused of organising killings, trafficking and extortion, police said, adding the two were suspected of trafficking drugs to Central America, the United States, Britain, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands. The arrests foiled a plan to expand the gang’s trafficking activity to Russia. Police say they have arrested more than 900 members of the Clan del Golfo over the past two years.
