Keen interest for free English course in Magwe
THE number of applications for a two-year free English language program in central Myanmar is double what it can accommodate, a news report said.
The language training program in Magwe, funded by the United States’ Educational and Cultural Affairs Bureau has received more than 100 applications while it will take 50 trainees.
The program’s director Daw Htet Htet Win of English Access Microscholarship Program said the course will be conducted at Opportunities English Language School in Magwe in Central Myanmar.
“The applicants should be between 16 and 19 years old and must have passed the matriculation exam. The trainees must have keen interest to learn English. They have to attend the classes regularly. They will be provided with fuel cost for their motor bikes,” she was quoted as saying in the Myawaddy Daily last week.
The program has been conducted in other major towns and those who are outstanding in the training are sent to the US to participate in educational seminars, attend universities and colleges in the US.
