FORD upgrades its conveyor system
The Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA) has invested more than R125million to upgrade a 3,000m long vehicle conveyor system at the company’s Silverton Assembly Plant in Pretoria, South Africa. This was done in order to increase production capacity for the locally- built Ranger and Everest. The investment forms a part of FMCSA’S manufacturing expansion plans to increase the plant’s capacity by 22% from 27 jobs-per-hour to 33 jobs-per-hour by January of 2018. This follows the move to a two-vehicle facility last year when the Ford Everest joined the Ranger on the Pretoria assembly line.
