“Chinese Pres­i­dent to visit Nepal”

Dr. Ji Zhiye, Pres­i­dent of the China In­sti­tutes of Con­tem­po­rary In­ter­na­tional Re­la­tions (CICIR), a think tank un­der China's State Coun­cil, said that the up­com­ing visit of Chinese Pres­i­dent Xi Jin­ping would fur­ther en­hance NepalChina bi­lat­eral re­la­tions. At a time when doubts were be­ing cre­ated on the visit of Pres­i­dent Xi af­ter the po­lit­i­cal change in Kath­mandu, the high­rank­ing Chinese of­fi­cer as­sured that Pres­i­dent Xi will be vis­it­ing Kath­mandu this year. Pres­i­dent Ji, ad­dress­ing a gath­er­ing or­gan­ised by China Study Cen­tre on Mon­day evening, also wished for Nepal's bet­ter re­la­tions with In­dia. A five mem­ber del­e­ga­tion of CICIR, ar­rived in Kath­mandu on Mon­day, 8 Au­gust. The del­e­ga­tion of CICIR, coun­ter­part of China Study Cen­ter-Nepal (CSCNepal), will be on a four day Nepal visit at the in­vi­ta­tion of CSC-Nepal. The visit aims to have bi­lat­eral aca­demic and pol­icy level ex­changes to deepen un­der­stand­ing for en­hanced co­op­er­a­tion be­tween the two coun­tries. Other mem­bers of the del­e­ga­tion in­clude Dr. Hu Shisheng, Di­rec­tor, In­sti­tute of South and South East Asian Stud­ies, Han Liqun, Re­searcher, In­sti­tute of World Pol­i­tics, Ms. Wang Haixia, Re­searcher, In­sti­tute of South and South East Asian Stud­ies, and Ms. Zheng Shiyun, Co­or­di­na­tor, De­part­ment of In­ter­na­tional Aca­demic Ex­changes, CICIR.
