Se­nior jour­nal­ist Nirvik passes away

Se­nior jour­nal­ist hav­ing pa­tri­otic stance, Dil­li­ram Nirvik, 78, passed away on Wed­nes­day, 3 Au­gust. Born in Shan­tipur, Ilam, Nirvik de­voted his en­tire life in the pro­fes­sion of jour­nal­ism. He launched Hijo-Aaja ver­nac­u­lar daily, among oth­ers, from Bhadra­pur in Jhapa dis­trict. The daily was be­ing pub­lished in a reg­u­lar ba­sis for decades. In fact, lack­ing of re­sources in the dis­tricts, it was a Her­culean task to bring out a daily news­pa­per from out­side the Val­ley, nev­er­the­less, Nirvik strug­gled hard to es­tab­lish his news­pa­per. As a jour­nal­ist, Nirvik also served as mem­ber of the Press Coun­cil, Fed­er­a­tion of the Nepalese Jour­nal­ists, Nepal Press In­sti­tute, board mem­ber of the na­tional news ser­vice RSS and the Gorkha­p­a­tra Cor­po­ra­tion. The late Nirvik was suf­fer­ing from brain cancer for the last sev­eral months. He is sur­vived by his wife and two sons. The demise of Nirvik is a great loss to the na­tion. On this sad oc­ca­sion, the Peo­ple's Re­view weekly fam­ily prays to the Almighty for the eter­nal peace of the de­parted soul and ex­tends heart­felt con­do­lences to the mem­bers of the be­reaved fam­ily.
