Nabin Ghimire ap­pointed CIAA Chief

The gov­ern­ment has ap­pointed Navin Ku­mar Ghimire Chief Com­mis­sioner of the Com­mis­sion for the In­ves­ti­ga­tion of Abuse of Author­ity (CIAA). The post of the CIAA chief has re­mained va­cant since Fe­bru­ary af­ter Deep Bas­nyat got com­pul­sory re­tire­ment. Ear­lier, Ghimire was serv­ing as the Act­ing Chief of the CIAA. Pres­i­dent Bidya Devi Bhan­dari ap­pointed him as the CIAA Chief on Thurs­day af­ter the Par­lia­men­tary Hear­ing Spe­cial Com­mit­tee (PHSC) en­dorsed the Con­sti­tu­tional Coun­cil's rec­om­men­da­tion to ap­point Ghimire as the CIAA Chief. Chief Jus­tice Om Prakash Mishra ad­min­is­tered the oath of of­fice and se­crecy to Ghimire also on Thurs­day at a func­tion or­gan­ised at the Of­fice of the Pres­i­dent, Shee­tal Ni­was. On Septem­ber 5, the Con­sti­tu­tional Coun­cil had de­cided to rec­om­mend Ghimire for the post of the Chief of the CIAA. Ghimire was re­garded as a bold and clean em­ployee when he served in dif­fer­ent dis­tricts in the past. He hails from Pachthar.
