Nabin Ghimire appointed CIAA Chief
The government has appointed Navin Kumar Ghimire Chief Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). The post of the CIAA chief has remained vacant since February after Deep Basnyat got compulsory retirement. Earlier, Ghimire was serving as the Acting Chief of the CIAA. President Bidya Devi Bhandari appointed him as the CIAA Chief on Thursday after the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) endorsed the Constitutional Council's recommendation to appoint Ghimire as the CIAA Chief. Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra administered the oath of office and secrecy to Ghimire also on Thursday at a function organised at the Office of the President, Sheetal Niwas. On September 5, the Constitutional Council had decided to recommend Ghimire for the post of the Chief of the CIAA. Ghimire was regarded as a bold and clean employee when he served in different districts in the past. He hails from Pachthar.
