Start your career in early childhood education
Early childhood education is a field that offers many career opportunities. New Zealand has a shortage of qualifi staff, and if you like working with young children, now is a great time to get started on a rewarding career.
Edinburgh Institute offers you the first step on your career path with the National Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care level 5. This is a comprehensive course which prepares students for entry into either a Diploma or Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education and allows for crosscredit towards these higher qualifications.
The Certificate is a full time course of 34 weeks. It includes 35 days of practical experience in two early childhood centres.
Edinburgh Institute welcomes both New Zealand and international students of all ages but students must be at least 17 years old in order to work in an early childhood centre. Students with English as a second language require English skills equivalent to IELTS level 5.5, and English language courses are also available through the Institute. Police checks are required of all students to confirm they have no serious convictions.
Women who have raised their families and want to return to the workforce, and who enjoy working with children, will find this an ideal opportunity to start a new career.
At Edinburgh Institute, students will find a nurturing, relaxed and supportive environment with experienced and caring teaching and administration staff.
The Institute’s campus is situated in a lovely spacious campus in Parnell which includes a beautiful historic building as well as modern classrooms.
Also on site are two licensed early childhood centres and a student hostel is just across the road.
The next intake starts at the beginning of April and enrolments are being accepted now. To enquire about enrolment or obtain further information, phone Jay on 379 5528 or Gill on 533 6551.
