Zoo fun hopping

Auckland City Harbour News - - News -

Kids at a loose end these school holidays should leap in to Auckland Zoo.

From April 19 to May 4 the zoo is holding events to support the international year of the frog.

Frogs Princess Lily, Prince Archey and Freddo will teach children to hop, play leapfrog and hopscotch and will also give out prizes.

Prince Archey will also put on two free interactive shows a day at 10.45am and 11.45am.

A daily frog talk from zookeepers will give children the chance to see a frog up close and make a frog mask.

Frog lovers can support their favourite animal by buying an ASB Kashin dollar to go towards the plight of frogs internationally.

Auckland Zoo events coordinator Jackie Sanders says a third of the world’s amphibians face extinction.

“Frogs are toadily cool and we want to get zoogoers jumping with joy, and raising money to help them,” she says.

Events will run from 9.30am to 5.30pm daily. Normal zoo admission fees apply.
