Students expelled after fight
Two students have been expelled from St Paul’s College after a student fight was filmed and aired on the YouTube website three weeks ago.
Filmed on a cellphone, the clip showed teenagers in uniform punching and kicking each other in a classroom, accompanied by rap music.
Six students were suspended and went before a board of trustees disciplinary hearing last Wednesday.
Four other students were reinstated at the school with strict conditions.
Two more students will face a disciplinary hearing after investigations showed they may have been involved.
Spokesman Brother Richard Dunleavy says the school will support the boys through the process.
“We are trying to help our young people grow through these things. We want to make sure they don’t repeat that behaviour.
“There is great disappointment that this attention was brought on St Paul’s by the actions of a few individuals.”
An investigation by former Orewa College principal Peter Goddard will continue.
