Plunket will benefit from a traditional English afternoon tea on Mother’s Day this year.

The Langham Hotel is bringing back its signature Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea with proceeds going to Plunket.

Starting with a glass of champagne, guests will enjoy a traditional three-tiered afternoon tea, with sandwiches, scones, cakes and delicacies, live jazz, espresso coffee and an exotic loose-leaf tea selection on May 11.

All guests also receive a bag of take-home niceties.

About 400 people are expected to mark Plunket’s 100th anniversary.

Langham managing director John Dick says Plunket was chosen because it is a service every New Zealand mother can relate to and has benefited from.

“We’ve all been weighed by one of the wonderful Plunket nurses at some stage in our early life and as parents I think we’ve all been able to benefit from the support Plunket has provided.”

The afternoon tea runs from 2pm to 4.30pm on Sunday, May 11. Tickets are $49 adult, children under 12 half price and under fives free with $10 from each adult ticket and $5 from each child ticket going to Plunket.

Reservations are essential. Phone 300-2809 or email denise.and rade@langhamhotels. com. Information, see langhamhotels.co.nz.
