Day chal­lenges youth to ex­cel

Young lead­ers will be flood­ing into Manukau next month.

The 2008 Na­tional Young Lead­ers Day for pri­mary and in­ter­me­di­ate stu­dents will be held at the Tel­straClear Pacifi Events Cen­tre on May 21-22.

This year’s lineup of speak­ers in­cludes ad­ven­turer Mark Inglis, Ad­ven­ture Rac­ing Team cap­tain Nathan Faavae and for­mer Sil­ver Fern Linda Va­gana.

Or­gan­ised by the Halo­gen Foun­da­tion, the event chal­lenges stu­dents to “own their world” and play an ac­tive part in it.

It has be­come New Zealand’s largest stu­dent lead­er­ship event with more than 10,000 pri­mary, in­ter­me­di­ate and sec­ondary stu­dents at­tend­ing each year.

This year, two Auck­land stu­dents will re­ceive a West­pac Stu­dent Lead­er­ship Award with cash prizes.

Tick­ets cost $42 per stu­dent and $15 for staff mem­bers and par­ents.
