Expo tours and talk will cover Eden Park plans
People concerned about the proposed developments to Eden Park or who simply want to have a look around the grounds should head to the Eden Park Expo this weekend.
The Auckland City Council, Eden Park Trust Board, Eden Park Redevelopment Board and Auckland Regional Council are presenting plans for the park in the lead-up to the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
Everything from the proposed $240 million development to upgrades of the neighbouring streets and rail stations will be covered.
Guided tours will also be hosted by former sports stars Dipak Patel and Grant Fox.
Patel says he is interested to see how the park will develop in the next few years.
“When you’ve been part of it for so many years you take an interest in what’s happening,” he says.
“This place is steeped in history and an upgrade is long overdue.”
The expo is intended to get public feedback on the upcoming work at Eden Park.
Trust board general manager Murray Reade says: “We have tried to put together a one-stop shop for the public, so they can ask questions and meet the people involved in the various projects.”
The expo will run from 10am to 3pm tomorrow and Sunday in Eden Park’s ASB Lounge.
Looking forward: Dipak Patel is hosting guided tours at the Eden Park Expo this weekend.
