Police are looking for the owners of a hoard of stolen building equipment discovered at a Penrose property.

Nail guns, grass cutters, saws and earmuffs were among the $20,000 worth of goods found.

Orewa police were searching the address on a separate matter on April 24 when they came across the tools and gear.

Officers from Mt Wellington were called in to collect it and are now looking for its owners.

“A lot have serial numbers on them.

“People need to take note and report the numbers if their tools are stolen,” says constable Luke Dodson.

Only a few of the tools have been identified from other crimes, including thefts from cars.

“We’re trying to trace where the equipment came from,” says Mr Dodson.

People wanting to claim the equipment will have to provide details about its condition.

A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with receiving and will appear in the North Shore District Court on May 22.

To claim the goods, contact the Mt Wellington police on 526-7300.
