Self-defence for women

Women look­ing to pro­tect them­selves can learn how to do so with a free self-defence course.

Samu­rai Karate NZ has put to­gether a com­pre­hen­sive pro­gramme which gives women the ba­sic tools to deal with the most com­mon kinds of as­sault in a pos­i­tive way.

The four-week course will teach ba­sic prin­ci­ples of self-defence, be­ing aware of pos­si­ble at­tacks and how they oc­cur, per­sonal se­cu­rity in a range of en­vi­ron­ments and how to gen­er­ate im­pact with hands and legs.

The course will run on four Wed­nes­days, start­ing on May 21 at 6.30pm.

It will be held at the Samu­rai School of Shukokai Karate, 128A One­hunga Mall. Par­tic­i­pants need to wear loose com­fort­able cloth­ing and no jew­ellery.
