Youth redefine art

Auckland City Harbour News - - News -

If you want to see the world through a young person’s eyes, head to the RE:DEFINE art exhibition this month.

Organised by Youthline, the show examines how relationships with friends, family and the community strengthen young people’s lives in New Zealand.

The artworks were entries in Youthline’s Youth Art competitions.

Youthline Auckland chief executive Stephen Bell says the aim of the exhibition is to help young people achieve their potential.

“The exhibition gives young people from all backgrounds a chance to come together to create art, express what it means to be a young person and be acknowledged for their contribution,” he says.

Organiser Nao Guy says the exhibition gives young people the chance to express themselves in a different way.

“We wanted young people to tell us about their experience of being young, which is sometimes quite different to what adults or society might think,” he says.

RE:DEFINE runs until May 25 at the Aotea Centre. For more information, visit www. youth
