Develop your fitness through yoga
Attending a yoga class every week will develop stamina and build strength - what can be called ‘yoga fitness’.
At Newton Yoga they offer students the opportunity to study yoga in an environment of progressive learning.
Yoga originated in India many centuries ago and is now practised throughout the world. It is both an art and a science, and is a time-honoured method of developing fitness, awareness of the body, and self-discipline.
The teaching at Newton Yoga is designed to support and challenge your ability as you progress through the levels. There is an emphasis on precision and alignment in the asanas, or poses, based on a stable foundation. The poses are performed by the body, but also require the engagement of the mind and the involvement of the emotions.
Classes are run on a four-weekly cycle beginning on the first of the month and finishing on the 28th. Each of the four weeks has a particular teaching focus so it is important to attend at least one class every week.
Classes are taught in three levels - introductory, Level 1 and Level 2.
In the introductory course students are introduced to the foundation poses and learn how to use the equipment, which is all provided. With a maximum number of eight students per class, students receive individual instruction.
Minimum enrolment for the introductory course is 12 lessons. This usually means one lesson per week for 12 weeks, but if you want to accelerate your progress, you can attend up to three lessons per week.
In the Level 1 course, students are taught the poses in more detail and continue to receive individual instruction on how to work themselves and the equipment. Students are encouraged to develop their own practice using repetition of the process to build strength and stamina. In Level 2, students learn more advanced poses and develop a deeper awareness in their yoga practice.
Private lessons are also available - they are a great way to improve your progress.
