Sports fields drainage
Drainage work in Western Springs from Tuesday is laying the foundation for better sports fields.
Improvements to stormwater drains will allow for sand carpeting of the Western Springs outer sports fields over the next two years.
Sand carpeting puts a layer of sand under the grass, improving drainage for a better allweather pitch.
Auckland City Council says the upgrade will close a section of the footpath linking Bullock Track to Western Springs Lakeside Park.
Access will be available across the playing fields.
Work will take place from 7am to 5pm weekdays for around eight weeks.
Stadium Rd will also be upgraded, with work starting on June 9 and expected to run for six weeks. Work hours are 7am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday.
