Back to front

Auckland City Harbour News - - Letters - RICHIE AFFORD Mt Albert

The council, for some unspecifi reason obscure to the public, has provided an official name to the service lane behind the Mt Albert shops – Belfast Lane.

By doing so it has provided legitimate addresses to those premises which were designed originally simply as basements or carparking for the businesses above.

I think we are entitled to know if these premises are being used for legal reasons and for the original purposes for which they were designed and authorised.

Furthermore, these back facades now become frontages and the council has accepted responsibility to keep road frontages clean and free of graffiti.

I am inviting the council and the community board which is charged with the duty of protecting local interests to make a full, frank and public explanation of its actions and intentions, past and future, regarding this Mt Albert disgrace.
