Kicks for Courage is set to get kids more ac­tive and help a wor­thy char­ity.

The new ini­tia­tive, sup­ported by All White Ryan Nelsen, aims to en­cour­age Kiwi kids to take up soc­cer while rais­ing money for the Child Can­cer Foun­da­tion.

The pro­gramme is be­ing pi­loted in the four main cen­tres with schools who reg­is­ter be­fore Fri­day go­ing into the draw for foot­ball-re­lated prizes.

Nelsen will of­fer coach­ing tips to par­tic­i­pat­ing schools in term three through the web­site www.kicks­for­cour age.co.nz.

Schools get to keep 20 per­cent of the money raised, while the rest goes to­wards pro­vid­ing sup­port and ser­vices to chil­dren and their fam­i­lies af­fected by can­cer.
