Mt Albert a hazard

Auckland City Harbour News - - Letters - BILL PIKE Mt Albert

I refer support Lisa Sloan’s article Mt Albert Slum Fear that was in the Auckland City Harbour News on May 30.

Every morning I take my guide dog Noble down the ramp through the train station complex and find people sleeping on the premises and graffiti taggers, upon hearing us, disappear promptly.

Also along the main shopping footpath on rubbish collection days my guide dog has to shunt the wheelie bins aside before we can pass.

In addition to this the food scraps and loose rubbish deposited haphazardly by shop occupants is a public disgrace.

It is high time that all those authorities charged with the duty of looking after the health and safety issues of our citizens took proactive action.

Mt Albert deserves nothing less.
