Second chance at a ports tour

Auckland City Harbour News - - News -

If you missed out on the action at SeePort week last month, there is now a second chance to get a behind-the-scenes look at Auckland’s port.

Ports of Auckland has organised the SeePort second chance draw for one winner and three guests to enjoy a private excursion through the port.

Winners will have a guided tour behind the port’s red fence, sightseeing around the facility by van. The prize also includes a visit to the new control and planning tower and the choice of either a ride on a 5000-horsepower tugboat or a climb up one of the port’s 100-metre tall container cranes.

The second chance draw comes after 3000 Aucklanders attended SeePort week, with the majority of tours being fully booked. The number was 40 percent higher than attendance at the inaugural event last year.

Ports of Auckland managing director Jens Madsen says judging by the high number of visitors and feedback forms, Aucklanders have a new appreciation of the port’s importance to the city.

“SeePort week is an annual event and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year,” says Mr Madsen.

To enter the secondchance draw, send an email with your full name, address and contact phone number to or leave a message with the same details on 0800 AK PORT.
