Police look for victim of gunpoint robbery
Police investigating an aggravated robbery have found themselves searching for a victim instead of an offender.
They want to hear from a man who was threatened with a rifle and robbed on Great North Rd at around 3am on May 17.
Detective constable Rebecca Kirk says police became aware of the offence while interviewing three suspects about another aggravated robbery in the city half an hour earlier.
“We’ve identified another offence, but we don’t have a complainant,” she says.
In the Symonds St robbery, an Asian man in his early 20s was badly assaulted, a firearm was presented and property taken from him.
Two men and a woman were arrested in connection with the crime.
Ms Kirk says it is believed the men carried out the robberies and the woman drove the getaway vehicle.
The victim from the second incident may have been wearing a high-visibility vest like a workman when he was assaulted and had his wallet stolen near Western Springs Rd.
Police want to hear from the man or anyone who witnessed the crime.
People with information can contact Ms Kirk on 302-6624.
