Arch Hill Reserve now asbestos free
Asbestos clean-up work has finished at a Grey Lynn park.
The historic dump of roofing material found in Arch Hill Reserve has been removed and the walkway reopened.
The asbestos was discovered in November but the site sealed until the Auckland City Council found a way to remove the soil from the steep slope.
Council urban soils review project manager Marcus Hermann says fencing is still to be installed and replanting done over the next fortnight.
The Grey Lynn library and community hall were closed for a day while a crane was used on site.
Mr Hermann says the remedial work was carried out successfully.
