Courts take tough line on busted tag­ger

An 18-year-old Mt Roskill man has been con­victed of crim­i­nal dam­age for graf­fiti van­dal­ism af­ter ap­pear­ing in the Auck­land Dis­trict Court last week.

The of­fender pleaded guilty and was or­dered to pay the coun­cil $235 repa­ra­tion to clean up the dam­age and per­form 100 hours of com­mu­nity ser­vice.

He was ar­rested by po­lice for graf­fiti van­dal­ism on June 12 af­ter his photo ap­peared on the television pro­gramme Po­lice 10-7 the pre­vi­ous night.

The pho­to­graphic ev­i­dence of the of­fender van­dal­is­ing a Hills­bor­ough prop­erty was ob­tained dur­ing a sur­veil­lance op­er­a­tion by Auck­land City Coun­cil.
