Rather frayed

Auckland City Harbour News - - Letters - JOHN O’BRIEN Remuera

I have just read the article and viewed the photo of the new “A” logo generated for the Auckland region (Auckland City Harbour News, September 19).

I’d have to say that at first glance already the damn thing is looking rather frayed and worn around the edges.

The nonsense around the logo is further compounded by the comments of Auckland’s University pro-vice chancellor Ralph Cooney.

Surely this gentleman didn’t complete a degree majoring in geography with a comment such as his: “With its red colour this brand takes Auckland beyond the New Zealand context and positions us at the very heart of the Asia Pacific region”.

A glance at such region would suggest maybe Ho Chi Minh city a more likely contender.

And to think some silly clown approved some $175,000 for such a project.

Awful or awesome: Auckland Regional Council deputy chairman Michael Barnett with an example of Auckland’s new brand logo.
