Enrol now to make your vote count

People wanting to make voting an easy process need to be quick.

Eligable voters need to be enrolled by next Wednesday to get printed on the electoral roll and receive an EasyVote card.

Registrar of electors Sharon Reece says everyone enrolled by Wednesday will get the card and a pack in the mail, making it easier to vote on polling day.

Anyone enrolled after then will have to cast a special declaration vote, which can take five times as long as an ordinary vote and means filling in extra forms.

Special declaration votes are not counted on election night.

Ms Reece says there are still 28,000 people in central Auckland who have not yet enrolled to vote and need to do so quickly.

Enrolment forms are available by free texting your name and address to 3676, going online to www.elections. visiting any PostShop or calling 0800 ENROL NOW (0800-36-76-56).

People can also check and update their details online at the website.

More information about enrolling and voting is available from www.elections. org.nz.
