Finalising voting places and finding the staff to work on election day is now a priority across Auckland.

The election will be on Saturday, November 8, and Auckland Central returning officer Walter Wilson says headquarters in the 13 Auckland electorates are up and running.

“Now we know the election date our teams are finalising the advance voting and polling places and appointing and training the staff needed,” he says.

There will be about 50 advance voting places, 400 election day polling places and 3000 people working on the day.

Anyone who wants to work at the election can get an application form from 0800-367-656 or by contacting the local electorate returning officer.

“On top of confirming where the polling places will be, we need to provide everything from furniture to stationery to ballot papers and ballot boxes,” Mr Wilson says.

Advance voting begins on Wednesday, October 22. Details will be available in people’s EasyVote information packs and from www.elec nz.

Anyone who will be overseas on election day can vote before they go, or once they are overseas, they can download ballot papers and fax them back or vote at an overseas post.
