Win tickets to the test against Tonga
We have tickets to give away to the Kiwis v Tonga rugby league international this Saturday.
The game is part of the buildup for the World Cup, and kicks off at Mt Smart Stadium at 2.30pm.
The selectors think the number of playmakers in the side will be a big advantage going into the tournament.
The Kiwis have announced a 24-man squad and convener of selectors Howie Tamati says they have never been in a better position.
“We’re in the position where we don’t have to play players out of position.
“There are players who have specialist skills and have the ability to play well in a number of positions.”
Thomas Leuluai has been earmarked as the halfback, while Wests’ Benji Marshall is back from injury. His clubmate Dene Halatau and South Sydney’s Issac Luke are the leading options at hooker.
The Kiwis have some backup with Brent Webb doubtful at fullback, with Sydney Rooster Sam Perrett and Parramatta’s Krisnan Inu both in the squad.
Tamati says the return of Parramatta prop Nathan Cayless to the captaincy in place of the injured Roy Asotasi is a logical decision, given his experience and background as a club skipper.
To be in with a chance to win a double pass to the game simply email your name, address and daytime phone number to edcl@ snl.co.nz with Kiwis in the subject line.
We have five passes to give away. Entries must be received by 9am on Friday.
