Police call off hunt

Auckland City Harbour News - - News -

Police investigating what was thought to be a serious assault in Mt Albert have confirmed they are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.

Detective senior sergeant Greg Cramer says police were called to a New North Rd address at 5.40pm on Monday last week where a man in his mid 40s was found unconscious.

The man was taken to hospital but a medical examination did not show any injuries.

“Early indicators were of a serious assault,” says Mr Cramer.

“Following on from appropriate medical treatment, a scene examination and speaking to witnesses, we are now satisfied we don’t need to look for anyone else.”

Mr Cramer says there were suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident and police treated it as serious until it was proven otherwise.
