West End are catch­ing up

West End are hot on the heels of com­pe­ti­tion leaders Par­nell in the Caro Bowl in­ter­club ten­nis com­pe­ti­tion.

The re­turn of Davis Cup player Adam Thomp­son from pro­fes­sional events strength­ened an al­ready for­mi­da­ble West End side, who trounced Re­muera 6-0.

James Green­halgh and Wes­ley Whitehouse also se­cured their 11th straight dou­bles match for West End.

Mean­while Blockhouse Bay moved into third place af­ter a 4-2 win over Royal Oak.

Blockhouse Bay man­aged to lose both dou­bles matches, but came back to win all four sin­gles in straight sets.

And Camp­bell Park main­tained their semi­fi­nal chances af­ter scor­ing a 4-2 victory over Pom­pal­lier.

In the women’s com­pe­ti­tion Par­nell put the brakes on pre­vi­ous leaders Royal Oak 5-1, while Pom­pal­lier scored a 5-1 victory over Glen­dowie to pick up their first win of the sea­son.

The com­pe­ti­tion takes a break over Labour week­end re­turn­ing with the fifth round the fol­low­ing Fri­day.
