Bid to help school ‘blitz’

Members of the Mt Albert Baptist Church are doing their bit to support their local school this weekend.

In a ‘school blitz’ on Sunday, they will be holding a TradeMestyle auction where people and businesses have donated items and skills for others to purchase.

All funds raised from the auction, which is at the church from noon, will go to Mt Albert Primary School.

On Saturday and Sunday, people from the church and community will also help to plant shrubs and trees, and make a sandpit, veggie garden, and seating area mural to brighten up the school.

The church is planning to organise similar projects to help the Mt Albert community over the next few years.

Pastor Jonathon Dove says the project is a great way to get involved in the community.

“Being a church doesn’t just mean getting together on a Sunday but meeting needs in the community and connecting with the Mt Albert community.

“Schools have an incredible role in shaping the lives of our children and we want to acknowledge that by making the school environment a better place for kids to turn up to on Monday morning.”

Work will start at 8am each day and finish at 5pm on Saturday and at 3pm on Sunday. People willing to help with the project are welcome on the weekend.
