Swap is a wrap
A Big Clothes Swap at AUT two weeks ago raised $700 for charity and recycled mountains of old, discarded clothes.
AUT fashion professor Joan Farrer says the swap at the university’s Hikuwai Plaza was more like a first day sale at Harrods.
She says people travelled from all over the city to get donated clothes sold for 50 cents an item.
Dr Farrer says fashion label Ricochet came to the clothes swap with a box of new designer jeans which were sold for just $2 a pair.
The swap was held to raise awareness about clothing sustainability issues.
