Recipe for aid work

Clas­sic Kiwi recipes in­clud­ing An­zac bis­cuits and ba­con and egg pie fea­ture in a new cook­book to raise money for Red Cross.

Pro­ceeds from the book, re­leased on Wed­nes­day, will help the aid or­gan­i­sa­tion’s work in New Zealand and over­seas.

It was launched at a celebrity lunch at the Hy­att Re­gency ho­tel to­day, fea­tur­ing home bak­ing by celebri­ties Kerre Wood­ham, Mark Sains­bury and Dai Hen­wood.

The book is pro­duced by Gourmet Food Pub­lish­ing, mak­ers of the Food­town Mag­a­zine.

“The cook­book fea­tures many recipes that are well­known and loved by New Zealan­ders,” says pub­lisher Tim Con­nell.

“The recipes re­flect our unique New Zealand her­itage, a cook­ing style based on sim­ple fresh in­gre­di­ents that are at the heart of home cook­ing.”

They in­clude lamb shanks, corned beef with mus­tard sauce, scones, cream sponge, and a sec­tion on mak­ing pre­serves. Copies are avail­able for $29.95 from Whit­coulls or the Red Cross, phone 0800 RED CROSS, 0800733-27677.
