Recipe for aid work
Classic Kiwi recipes including Anzac biscuits and bacon and egg pie feature in a new cookbook to raise money for Red Cross.
Proceeds from the book, released on Wednesday, will help the aid organisation’s work in New Zealand and overseas.
It was launched at a celebrity lunch at the Hyatt Regency hotel today, featuring home baking by celebrities Kerre Woodham, Mark Sainsbury and Dai Henwood.
The book is produced by Gourmet Food Publishing, makers of the Foodtown Magazine.
“The cookbook features many recipes that are wellknown and loved by New Zealanders,” says publisher Tim Connell.
“The recipes reflect our unique New Zealand heritage, a cooking style based on simple fresh ingredients that are at the heart of home cooking.”
They include lamb shanks, corned beef with mustard sauce, scones, cream sponge, and a section on making preserves. Copies are available for $29.95 from Whitcoulls or the Red Cross, phone 0800 RED CROSS, 0800733-27677.
