Pair win na­tional Os­cars

A pas­sion for pro­vid­ing af­ter­school care has won two Pon­sonby work­ers na­tional awards.

Dono­van Farn­ham and Tun­ganeiti Ka­tia work for Pon­sonby In­ter­me­di­ate School’s Os­car pro­gramme and took out two of the 10 awards given out by the Os­car foun­da­tion.

Mr Farn­ham won an in­di­vid­ual award recog­nis­ing a long-term pro­fes­sional ap­proach to work­ing in the Os­car sec­tor and Ms Ka­tia won the Peter Heaslip Schol­ar­ship Grant worth $1000.

Os­car stands for Out of School Care and Recre­ation and pro­vides care for chil­dren be­fore and af­ter school and dur­ing the school hol­i­days.

The foun­da­tion is looking for more peo­ple or or­gan­i­sa­tions across the coun­try to pro­vide pro­grammes for chil­dren aged five to 14 years old.
