Pair win national Oscars
A passion for providing afterschool care has won two Ponsonby workers national awards.
Donovan Farnham and Tunganeiti Katia work for Ponsonby Intermediate School’s Oscar programme and took out two of the 10 awards given out by the Oscar foundation.
Mr Farnham won an individual award recognising a long-term professional approach to working in the Oscar sector and Ms Katia won the Peter Heaslip Scholarship Grant worth $1000.
Oscar stands for Out of School Care and Recreation and provides care for children before and after school and during the school holidays.
The foundation is looking for more people or organisations across the country to provide programmes for children aged five to 14 years old.
