Beach trees on mend

Auckland City Harbour News - - News -

Pohutukawa trees damaged at Pt Chevalier beach earlier this month have now been repaired.

The branches of several trees were broken by contractors driving diggers as part of the beach re-sanding project.

Remedial pruning was done over two days last week, finishing on Friday.

Auckland City Council’s group manager arts, community and recreation policy Ruth Stokes says the trees are now fine and there shouldn’t be any further problems.

The cost of the repairs is estimated at $1500 to $2000 and was paid by the contractor at no cost to ratepayers.

The contractors working on the beach admitted full liability for the damages.
