Rent verdict due
Residents at a central city apartment complex are waiting to see whether they will be forced to pay a massive ground rent increase.
The Beaumont Quarter Residents Society went to arbitration with landowners Beaumont Partners last week over a 400 percent price rise, which would see some residents paying around $20,000 a year.
The hearing ran from Tuesday to Friday and arbitrator Sir Ian Barker is expected to take about a month to give his decision.
Society chairman Neville Corbett attended part of the hearing and says it went well.
The society’s annual general meeting is on November 24 and residents hope to know the outcome by then.
