Grocers’ cash for charities
Charities needing a helping hand have the chance to become a beneficiary of the Grocery Charity Ball.
Applications are now open for the 2009 ball, which is organised by the grocery industry.
This year $150,000 was raised to support the children’s helpline What’s Up and guide dog training programme Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
More than $1 million has been raised for charities since the ball began five years ago.
Expressions of interest can be sent through the Grocery Charity Ball Trust website, www.grocerycharityball.org or by phoning Scott MacKay on 021-636-167.
Preliminary applications must be received by 5pm on Thursday, November 20.
A shortlist of charities will then be asked to present their case to the ball trustees in the first week of December.
