Donations flooding in for kids
Generous businesses donated so many quality prizes for a charity lunch in support of Kidz First children’s hospital that the organisers have combined them into a raffle.
The Mad Butcher and Suburban Newspapers Community Trust lunch on December 12 at Ellerslie features Rob Hewitt, the diver lost at sea for four days. Tables of 10 are $1800 plus GST, single tickets are $180 plus GST.
A charity auction is also always held but organisers say not everyone can afford to bid or attend the lunch so prizes have been gathered together into a $10 a ticket raffle. Proceeds go to Kidz First.
“If we can sell 3000 tickets we can hand over another $30,000 to the hospital,” trust member David Penny says. “We hope a lot of people who would support the charity, but who can’t get to the dinner, will buy a ticket.”
First prize is a 42inch Panasonic TV, and there are 20 other draws for prizes including mountain bikes and children’s cycles, a Great Barrier Island adventure, Vodafone Warriors season tickets, $100 meat vouchers, a Fisher and Paykel A1GP fridge, laser hair removal packages, a Regency Duty Free gift basket and even the chance to fly a 747 flight simulator.
